Jermaine D. Haughton

Jermaine D. Haughton

Associate

Jermaine D. Haughton is known by his peers to be a diligent, well-prepared, and sharp-minded medical malpractice attorney. He takes the job of representing injured people seriously and zealously advocates on behalf of his clients across all arenas. Before joining Wais, Vogelstein, Forman, Koch & Norman, Jermaine was an Associate at a national law firm handling various products liability and mass torts litigation issues in states around the country.

After spending three years representing big corporations, Jermaine has found his professional success, problem solving skills, and advocacy is best served with intimate, close client-attorney partnerships. He made the decision to leave product defense litigation to serve families affected by medical negligence. His top priority remains delivering favorable case outcomes for clients through authentic advocacy.

Jermaine has earned several distinctions in his career so far, including recognition as a Super Lawyer Rising Star in 2018 (defense litigation) and in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 for his work on behalf of medical malpractice victims. He has also been named to Marquis Who’s Who in American Law, Top Young Attorneys in Maryland, National Black Lawyers’ Top 40 Under 40, Baltimore Magazine’s Maryland Top Lawyers (Rising Stars), and Lawyers of Distinction. In 2019, he earned the Alumni Achievement Award bestowed by the University of Baltimore Black Law Students’ Association.

As a medical malpractice attorney, Jermaine has played a lead role in recovering millions of dollars on behalf of his clients.

Jermaine earned a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy with a focus on Rhetoric from the University of Maryland College Park and a J.D. (magna cum laude) from the University of Baltimore School of Law. He served as an adjunct professor at UB Law for several years, where he coached the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Team to a first-place finish in the Mid-Atlantic region.

While attending University of Baltimore School of Law, Jermaine was recognized with various awards including: Student Bar Association Student Leader of the Year (2015); Black Law Students Association (BLSA) Image Award (2015); BLSA Mentorship Award (2014); BLSA Peer Leadership Award (2014 and 2015), and Law Faculty Award for Most Outstanding Day Student, Class of 2015. From 2014 to 2015, Jermaine served as the President of UB Law’s Black Law Students’ Association.
