Birth Injury Brain Injury Medical Malpractice

Shannon has over a decade of experience representing plaintiffs in medical malpractice and birth injury cases across the country.

Shannon joined the Wais team in 2026, bringing a unique and invaluable perspective to her legal practice, backed by 12 years of hands-on medical research experience at Johns Hopkins Hospital before entering the legal field.

Following her graduation with honors from Johns Hopkins University, Shannon spent those 12 years working in heart disease research and as a breast cancer clinical research coordinator. In these roles, she collaborated closely with physicians and nursing staff to enroll patients in clinical trials, acting as both educator and advocate for patients and their families.

While working full-time, in 2011 she began attending law school at night.  In addition to her class work, she taught first-year students as a Constitutional Law Scholar, wrote and edited for the Law Forum, and served as student attorney in the UB Law School Innocence Project clinic. Today, she continues this passion by volunteering as a case screener for the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project (MAIP) to help exonerate the wrongfully convicted.

Following her law school graduation and while studying for the bar exam, she accepted a part-time clerkship with the Office of the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit in Baltimore City. This experience launched her transition into civil litigation, leading her to join her first plaintiffs’ firm in Baltimore. She has since been recognized as a Super Lawyers “Rising Star” consecutively from 2021 through 2025.
